Brain, Memory, And Skills

The Brain view is where you manage Hive Superbrain: the shared notes, memory, and skills your agents use. It sits on a normal Obsidian vault you can open, back up, and sync yourself. This page is a quick tour; the Hive Superbrain guide has the full picture.

Add source material

Use Feed the brain to add text, files, or folders, or drag documents onto the vault view. HivemindOS converts them to Markdown on your computer and keeps the source name with each note. Attach a file in Chat instead when it only matters to one conversation. See Documents and Brain Drop for file types and limits.

Imported text is evidence, not authority. Instructions inside a file never become standing orders for your agents.

Review Durable Memory

You don’t need a special command; just ask in Chat, and HivemindOS adds relevant memory for the agent. When something is worth keeping, such as a decision, preference, or lesson, it waits in Brain Review until you approve it. Newer approved versions replace older ones and keep the history. See Memory and knowledge.

Browse The Vault And Graph

Open shared notes in the vault browser, and use the graph to explore links between notes, memories, projects, skills, and compiled knowledge. Being close together in the graph does not make two notes related; a direct source or reviewed memory is stronger evidence.

Use shared skills

Skills are reusable procedures every supported agent can load. Browse, install, update, or remove them in the skill browser. Installing a skill does not run it or approve its side effects. See Shared skills and Hive Fusion.

Keep credentials separate

Hive Superbrain can record that a key exists and whether it is set. Plaintext values live in Shared Env outside the Obsidian vault. See Shared Env and Hivemind Sync.

Optional Brain Services

The Brain view’s Add-ons tab adds deeper search, graphs, and specialist services. Most people can leave the defaults. Common actions:

  • Install or connect QMD. This adds another way to search a large vault; its search files stay in a local cache outside your vault.
  • Build compiled knowledge from reviewed research when you want a curated topic reference.
  • Connect a separate graph database for relationship queries. Your vault stays the source of truth.

Turning an add-on off never removes your notes.
