Calling

Calling lets you talk to an agent instead of typing. Start a voice call in the dashboard, or pair a phone so an agent can reach you away from your computer.

A call uses the selected agent’s identity, permissions, model, and context. Voice does not create a separate agent.

Start a call

  1. Open the agent in Fleet or Chat.
  2. Choose the call action.
  3. Check the microphone and voice provider shown.
  4. Allow microphone access when asked.
  5. End the call when you’re done, then review any result or follow-up task before acting on it.

The desktop app also has a hands-free voice channel to Queen Bee, with live transcription of both sides so you can catch misunderstandings.

Choose a voice provider

  • Bring your own provider — your own realtime, speech-to-text, or text-to-speech service.
  • On-device speech — a simpler fallback using a local voice, when available.
  • HivemindOS Cloud Agent Calls — an optional managed path for eligible accounts. It is off by default.

A local provider keeps more audio on your machine. A cloud provider receives your audio under its own terms, so choose carefully for sensitive calls.

Set up an agent’s voice

Open the agent’s settings and choose Calls. There you can pick a voice, test your microphone and speaker, choose speech providers, pair or remove a phone, and set the prompt for scheduled calls. If a key is missing, the panel opens its setup in place. Store provider keys in Shared Env, never in a prompt or transcript.

Phone calls

Phone calling needs an explicit pairing or managed call setup. Pairing approves a device as a destination; it doesn’t let every agent call it.

Use the Phone view to see paired devices and saved call prompts. An in-app call and a phone ring are separate: starting one never triggers the other.

Voice Runs

A voice run is the record of one call: what started it, which agent answered, which tools it had, whether it finished, and what follow-up it produced.

A recipe is a reusable call pattern, such as a daily spoken briefing, an approval reminder, a project check-in, or a company update that creates a Work task for anything unresolved. Review a recipe before scheduling it. A spoken request still needs confirmation before it sends a message, spends money, publishes, or changes an outside account.

Stay safe

  • Transcription can be wrong. Confirm names, amounts, addresses, dates, and anything destructive before acting.
  • A paired phone is an approved destination, not proof that the person speaking is authorized.
  • Keep emergency, financial, medical, and other high-stakes decisions out of unattended voice automations.
  • Ending a call doesn’t cancel a task the agent has already accepted.

If calling doesn’t work

Check microphone permission, the agent’s provider setup, and the paired phone. Then see Troubleshooting, or use text Chat meanwhile.
