HivemindOS manual
Current AEON Control Plane
AEON is an optional background-agent runtime. HivemindOS lets you run an AEON workspace from the Autopilot view or by typing /aeon in Chat, instead of editing its files by hand.
The workspace can live on this computer or on another linked machine; the controls are the same. AEON stays in charge of its own skills, settings, schedules, runs, and outputs. HivemindOS sends your changes through AEON’s own controls and never keeps a separate copy.
Link a workspace
- Open the Autopilot view.
- Choose Initialize to clone the official
aeonfun/aeonrepository, or Link to use a checkout you already have. - Open the agent and check that the Control tab loads.
A current workspace contains aeon.yml, the apps/cli/aeon launcher (or a root aeon launcher), catalog/skills.json, and a skills/ folder. HivemindOS will not create a half-empty workspace, because it would look connected but could not run.
The Autopilot tabs
| Tab | What you can do |
|---|---|
| Overview | See whether the workspace is working, scheduled, paused, or idle, plus recent results and next steps. |
| Work | Browse skills, run one now, put it on duty, pause it, or create an automation with a schedule, brief, and model. |
| Activity | Review AEON’s own run history and open real run logs and outputs. |
| Deliverables | Preview outputs and send them to another machine. |
| Control | Manage the agent engine, model, skill packs, MCP servers, Strategy, Soul, health, and Telegram delivery. |
| Settings | Check compatibility, sync skills and credentials, update or save the repository, review memory, and control the Obsidian mirror. |
Work and automations
The Work tab lists the skills AEON finds in the workspace, with each one’s duty state, schedule, model, and required credentials. From there you can:
- run a skill now;
- put a skill on duty, pause it, or resume it;
- create an automation by choosing a schedule, brief, and model, without editing YAML or GitHub Actions;
- stop every on-duty automation in the workspace.
Control tab
- Choose AEON’s agent engine and model: Claude, Grok, Codex, Pi, Vibe, or Kimi. Each shows only its compatible models.
- Browse first-party and community skill packs, and add or remove MCP servers.
- Write or generate the Strategy document, and build the Soul and Style documents.
- Review health records, provenance, and automation rules.
- Set up Telegram delivery.
- See which credentials each skill needs, without their values.
- Check whether the workspace matches the audited upstream version and supports current AEON features.
Community packs and MCP servers add what the workspace can do. Review their source, credentials, and side effects before you enable them.
Settings, sync, and credentials
From Settings you can:
- copy your Shared Brain skills into the workspace’s
skills/folder; - sync only the credential names the active engine and enabled skills need;
- update the workspace from GitHub, or save your changes to GitHub;
- review AEON’s topics, logs, and memory;
- start, stop, or run the Obsidian mirror once.
Secret values are never shown. The panel shows only each credential’s name and whether it is set, shared, local, or missing.
Use AEON to run a company
A Zero Human Company can use one AEON skill as its background engine. In Chat, Talk to CEO with /aeon works on that same workspace. See Use AEON with Zero Human Companies.
Update an older workspace
If the status says legacy:
- Commit or back up any work you want to keep.
- Update the checkout from upstream if it can fast-forward cleanly, or clone a fresh official repository.
- Put any custom skills back as folders under
skills/. - Link the updated checkout in HivemindOS.
- Open Control and check that the CLI, catalog, Strategy, Soul, packs, and MCP servers all load.
