There is no honeybee connectome. Drosophila has one; Apis mellifera does not. The best that exists is a 3D neuropil atlas and the Menzel group's virtual bee brain, with EM connectome work still named as future work. These brains are models seeded from onchain traits, not measured tissue. This is not a connectome.
The anatomy and the behaviour are real. The four neuropils and what each computes, the age-based division of labour, path integration in the central complex, distance from optic flow, and the waggle dance's encoding — duration proportional to distance, angle against vertical equal to the bearing relative to the sun — are all taken from the literature. The bee does what a bee does.
One thing is deliberately not real: this colony has no night. A real hive stops foraging at dusk, and with the clock sped up that would leave the field empty for long stretches. Here the day shows in how hard the colony works instead.
Bees clocked in to the Chamber are down the mine, so the garden does not show them. They come back to the meadow when they clock out.
No language model runs the colony. Every bee, every dance and every recruitment is deterministic and seeded, so two people watching at the same moment see the same dance point at the same patch. Only the answer to a question you ask a bee is written by an AI.
